Stamping is done in a narrow window while the slab is still workable but firm enough to hold the imprint, so it is a timing job as much as a finishing one, and at altitude that window opens and closes faster than the manufacturer's chart says it will.

Our process

1. Sample selection
Pick your pattern and color from real concrete samples, outdoors, in daylight.
2. Pour
Pour the slab to the right thickness and finish.
3. Stamp
Imprint while the concrete is in the window.
4. Seal
Cure, then apply protective sealer with anti-slip where it is needed.

The cost of getting it wrong

Where stamped concrete goes wrong

Three ways, all avoidable. Stamp too early and the pattern closes back up and the slab is soft where it needed to be dense; stamp too late and the imprint is shallow and inconsistent, and there is no second attempt at either. Color that was broadcast onto the surface instead of mixed into the concrete wears through at the traffic lines and at every plowed edge, and once it is through you are looking at grey. And a smooth-sealed decorative surface with no anti-slip additive is genuinely hazardous around a pool deck or on a walkway that ices — beautiful in the photos, and the reason somebody falls.

UV at altitude, and a shorter working window

Sun is harder on color up here. Thinner atmosphere means more ultraviolet reaching the slab, and UV is what fades pigment, so the sealer is doing real protective work rather than just adding sheen — and it is consumable, which is why decorative concrete in the mountains needs resealing on a schedule instead of once. The other altitude effect shows up on pour day: mountain air is dry and the slab gives up its surface water faster, so the window between too wet to stamp and too stiff to stamp is shorter than it is at sea level. That is a scheduling and crew-size problem, and it is solved before the truck arrives.

How long does stamped concrete last?

Properly sealed stamped concrete lasts decades as a slab. The colour is the consumable part — plan on resealing every 2 to 3 years to hold it, and sooner on a surface that gets plowed.

Can you stamp existing concrete?

We can overlay existing slabs that are in good structural shape with a stampable overlay. If the slab underneath is cracked or settling, the overlay will copy the problem rather than hide it.

Is stamped concrete slippery when wet?

It can be, which is why we add an anti-slip additive to the sealer on walkways and pool decks rather than treating it as an upgrade.

Does the color go all the way through?

With integral color, yes — the pigment is batched into the concrete. Surface-applied color does not, and that is what wears through at traffic lines.
